OXFORD — Outfielder TJ McCants, one of the authors of an iconic Ole Miss baseball moment, has announced his entry into the transfer portal.
“I just want to start off by thanking the Ole Miss coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play this great game at the collegiate level in such a competitive league,” McCants wrote Wednesday on Instagram. “I’d also like to thank my teammates for being my brothers and creating memories with me on and off the field that will last a lifetime.
“Lastly, thanks to the Ole Miss community for the support and love you guys have showed me (in) my three years here.”

The 2021 Freshman All-American struggled at the plate this season, though. He batted .232 overall and .154 in SEC play, posting a .468 OPS against conference foes. McCants received just three at-bats in Ole Miss’ final six SEC games.
