Southern Miss baseball begins its NCAA Tournament run in the Auburn Regional against Samford on Friday.
Southern Miss (41-17) had a solid regional hosting resume, sweeping Liberty and Dallas Baptist earlier in the year before finishing the year with a series win over Louisiana and the Sun Belt Tournament title. Despite that, the NCAA placed the Golden Eagles as the 2-seed in Auburn. This will be the final NCAA Tournament for retiring coach Scott Berry.
The Bulldogs (36-23) won the Southern Conference Tournament last weekend, earning the league’s automatic bid.
