OXFORD — Ole Miss basketball coach Chris Beard has added a piece of March Madness magic to his roster.
Jaylen Murray, a member of the 15th-seeded Saint Peter’s team that went to the Elite Eight in 2022, announced his commitment to play for the Rebels on Instagram on Wednesday.
The 5-foot-11 guard appeared in 29 games for the Peacocks last season, starting 11 of them. Murray averaged 12.5 points and 2.3 assists per game. He also contributed 2.9 rebounds.
Murray shot 37.4% from the field and 35.7% from 3-point range. The product of Connecticut’s Putnam Science Academy has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The commitment continues a week full of positive news for the Ole Miss program. Tuesday, last season’s leading scorer Matthew Murrell announced his intent to return for his senior season. The Rebels also landed commitments from Auburn transfer Allen Flanigan and three-star guard Jason Jackson.
